Sigma EF-530 DG Super EO-ETTL II Electronic Flash for Canon EOS

Sigma EF-530 DG Super is the best and most important investment you can get for your camera. Let me justify this. First, assuming you already have one, take a shot of an object with your on-camera flash, then put this baby on and take another shot, then compare your results. See the real skin colors and the life-like quality of image? It is night and day. On-camera flash is harsh and there is little adjustment you can do with it. This Sigma can be positioned to bounce the light in many artistic ways so you don't get an overexposed face and a dark background, etc.

Another one, and I think it is totally amazing and worth any money, this unit has an IR sensor that when enabled will measure the distance to the object and report it to the camera body, which will focus the lens perfectly. No more hunting, no more issues with focusing due to low light condition or a slow lens, or lack of contrast at the point of focus. I have walked into a totally dark room, blindly focused on several objects, and shots came out perfect! I really like this idea - no more out of focus issues.

Use it any time, day or night, inside or outdoors, it makes a big difference, believe me. And it is better than any Canon for the money, why spend extra. You noticed, I am a Canon guy, have been for many years. Canon is overrated, while Sigma and Tamron are two quality competitors that bring excellent products at a fraction of the cost. Of course, if you are a pro, your image is more important, so you go with all Canon, otherwise most people on the street will be easily impressed by your setup compared to their point-and-shoot. I am not about the image, I am simply looking for the best picture for the buck.

Simply buy this flash, and you will never look back or feel the money was spend foolishly. Enjoy!

Sigma EF-140 External Flash for Sigma DP1 Digital Cameras

The EF-140 is a good to have add on to the Sigma DP1 camera, which is the only TTL compatible flash for it. Flash power is well controlled without need to tweak DP1 setting. A good slim build flash accessories to increase the flash power without too much weight. The downside is the plastic material build is kind of weak build.

Gossen DigiFlash GO 4007 Analog and Flash Meter

While this is a great light meter, as are all Gossen meters, I would not recommend it to anyone. Operations such as ISO changes are by menus that are selected by holding down the lower button for what ever time the little meter wants, sometime a couple seconds sometimes minutes will go by (no kidding here). This sometimes works, but usually only when one has time to wait for it. If sitting in a chair playing with the thing this is fine, but out in the field when checking light conditions and different speeds, this is extremely frustrating. I junked mine and size be d... I'm going back to my old analog Gossen F meter or maybe just forget off camera incident readings and chimp from the camera meter.
