Sigma Electronic Flash EF-500 DG ST for Canon SLR Cameras

I'm not a camera expert, but I was looking for something better than the built-in flash on my Canon XTi. Particularly I was looking for something that would work better with my EF-S fish-eye lens. The throw is too short for the built-in flash in that it creates a shadow for close-in pictures. The EF-500 eliminated that problem on all but the closest shots. My only gripe is that I don't like the mount much. My last Canon flash fit neatly in the mount and had a lock button. The lens has a friction wheel that you twist to tighten. It's just not as easily removed, although it probably holds it on more tightly.
